The Dansville Aggies faced off against a tough Pewamo-Westphalia Pirates team on Monday afternoon in Fowler. Aggies lineup: Matthew Simmons (Sr.), Devin Heberlein (Sr.), Sydney Dingley (Sr.), Jacob VanDouser (Jr.), and Kevin Every (Jr.).
The first 5-on-5 was a nail biter. It wasn’t until the 9th frame that the Aggies finally managed to pull slightly ahead of the Pirates, and the first game went to Dansville, 782-736. Heberlein knocked out a 5-bagger, beginning in the seventh frame, for a team high game for the event of 194.
Senior Kody Croy stepped in for Simmons for the second game, making a solid showing with a 155 game. Kevin Every had a clean game going, right up until the tenth frame, for 174. The Aggies finished the team portion leading the match, 16-4, heading into the Bakers.
The tug-of-war for the lead was on again, and the two rivals ended up in a tie game of 169, but the PW team found themselves in the lead at the end of the second Baker, beating Dansville, 133-127. It wasn’t enough to win the match, though. The Aggies prevailed, 18-12. They are now 5-0 with five to go.
Dansville will return to E-Lanes on Monday, January 27 to meet up with the Fowler Eagles at 3:30pm. Hope to see you there!
